Does CCleaner v2.24 clean and erase all traces of chat and webcaming done in yahoo messenger v9 and msn messenger v2009 ?. I`m running vista home premium SP2.
If so does it erase everything so that a forensic analist can`t find any evidence?. I heard about people getting their pc or laptops confiscated.

tks

Hope to get a response

You can add Win Live Messenger and yahoo messenger cleaning with the winapp2.ini file.

http://forum.pirifor...?showtopic=1110

it cleans thease directories :

%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\MSN Messenger
%ProgramFiles%\Yahoo!\Messenger\ypager.log
%ProgramFiles%\Yahoo!\Messenger\Profiles
%ProgramFiles%\Yahoo!\Messenger\Cache
%ProgramFiles%\Yahoo!\Messenger\IMVCache

You can enable secure deletion under: Options / Settings | Secure Deletion
put a dot in the box and select you preferred ammount of overwrites from the drop down.

Note: No one can fully guarantee a police/government/CSI/NCIS "forensic analyst" wont be able to recover your files, but for normal recovery attempts CC should be just fine to gaurd against.

My advice would be not to do anything Illeagal or against you nations interests in any chat programs or at all if possible,
Then they shouldn't care what you typed in chat...
