Sometimes it's just because you have never looked before (as I hadn't)

But after reading this page (especially the bit near the bottom which says ''using the codes''!)

I can now type ¼ ® ÷ ¿ Ê †

Okay may not be earth shattering, but I found it fun

Allot of that is already built into Windows with the provided tool called Character Map, available via:
Start -> Run: charmap.exe

I also find windings or webdings (or whatever their name is) interesting but I can't find my way around them...

Neither did I, but it has to be the number pad on the right side, it doesn't work with the numbers at the upper middle. Good luck remembering those number codes though, I surely won't.

We just need LCD digital keyboards that can transform at the push of a button to input those different looking characters.

I had to use the ones for spanish characters all the time in school.
Freaking hated writing essays where I randomly had to break out the cheat sheet so that I could type the correct punctuation.
(I passed 5 years of college spanish.... and I still don't speak spanish. )

Open up the charmap from run dialog and click on random characters and youl see its corresponding alt+key combination for some of the characters.

Its fun creating your own special characters like your initials, or a little code you might want to affix to your documents etc...

lol...do like my brother did, marry a girl that is from south america and move there....you pick it up quick.
