Does anyone know why you can't "Go back one page" from gmail in Firefox?

You can go back from an email to the inbox or from any gmail entity to the previous one but not from gmail to any thing/where else. Have to use bookmarks or an address! I use the Ff extension gmail notifier so perhaps it is that. I'll have to check! Thank You!

It's more likely to be gmail. Some sites play with the browser history mechanism to 'discourage' the user going back to a page outside of their site. How effective that is may be browser dependent. I get mixed results with gmail on IE.

You should still be able to use the drop-down history button next to the browser back/forward buttons.

Yes, hit Backspace (or mouse button) a couple times and it works. I just found it kind of annoying using bookmarks of history if I wanted to go back to my home page. The Bs key is one of the only shortcuts I even use!
