Hi to all you current and budding IT gurus.

I am using a Toshiba TE2300 laptop
XPprosp3 5.1-2600
1gig ram
3xpartioned HDD formatted NTFS

I also have 80g USB drive and a couple of “on the move” subs at 2 &4gig

I’ve got a couple of problems and I hope that this is the forum for posting them.

Problem 1,

CHKDSIK C/ can’t open volume for direct access, chkdsk has finished checking. I don’t know why it is has happened.

Problem 2

The computers restore computer to a previous point check box is not checked. When I first noticed this was happening, I had 5 previous check points established in the restore point calendar but none of these would work for me. The computer after attempting to restore to a previous point would report “could not restore to the restore point” nothing has been changed. Chose another restore point

I have scanned the computer for virus using Norton’s system works, Avira antivirus.

I have scanned using MBAM, SupperAntivirus, Spybot S&D, Ad-ware, Lavasoft, A2-squre etc and found no viruses, no Trojans or worms or any bad creatures in my computer

So, has anyone any ideas as to why this is happening

Have you tried booting into safe mode and running chkdsk from a cmd prompt?

Also try disabling Norton from startup as a test.
