Hi in the ccleaner cleaner section there are numerous unchecked boxes for cleaning in both system and advanced. I am using vista home premium SP1 does any one have siggestions for which boxes to select to clean out the most clutter and create free space?

To clear out the most clutter then tick all of the boxes. However you might wish to keep some of the data that will be removed this way, passwords, window sizing and position, autofill entries etc. I would go with the standard defaults, which are a reasonable comrpomise between clearing out and usability. You can always experiment with the other settings later.

Don't tick "Wipe Free space". Unless you have really important data erased on your Hard Drive, of course. ;)

not sure I understand your answer, will "wipe free space" delete important data that will help my computer run? or did you mean that it will erase sensative info about myself or important documents?

"Wipe free space" will make deleted data unrecoverable.

Looking around the Piriform documentation site might help you decide what to mark for cleaning.
