Is it possible to choose the time that the run starts, i.e. in the midle of the night, whildt I am at the pub, or some other suitable time.

You could try the CCleaner Auto Shutdown routine:
I run it from a Quicklaunch shortcut. Last thing I do, one click, clean and shutdown. It means CCleaners running when your not using your PC.
