I use FileHippo.com Update Checker! beta to keep me aware of updates:

I like watching the eyes pop open while it checks to see if the system is up to date then disappear if it is.

This version have a bug.Scottys bark is missing and will be fixed in the next version.

I really do bet he would get more users if he ditched the girly dog.
Change it to a rottweiler and call the program malware destroyer or something cool/manly.
