cd drives not working

hello, im having trouble using my cd drives. i uninstalled nero and installed a new program for burning and it has messed around with my registry files.
this is the error which appears when i try and reinstall the hardware

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Next time when you have a problem, state relevant informations such as the model of the CD drive and what Windows version you have.

You can try to use the "System Restore" to restore the computer configuration to an earlier state.

Other idea might be to remove the CD drive from the Device Manager under System in the Control Panel, then reboot so it re-detects it and reinstalls it, maybe...

Hi have looked at your posting and this is what code 19 is:

Your registry might be corrupted.

WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT.

Incorrect or conflicting information is entered in the registry settings for this device.
Try using the Troubleshooting Wizard to identify the specific problem.
If that is unsuccessful, uninstall and then reinstall the driver. Try using System Restore to roll back the configuration to a point where the device worked properly.

Why not uninstall the new program and nero, and reinstall the new one to fix the registry?
If it isn't broke, tweak it.
