Do ya'll have any idea how 'tuff it is being a newbie? I downloaded Kaspersky's Online Scan and after several hours of updating, scanning, etc. lost the darn thing through my lack of knowledge of my browser. It is now after 2:00 a.m. and I hope to get an answer tomorrow so I can start this process all over again.
Never used Kaspersky before so really dumb where it's concerned. From the inst. given me, I was to click on Settings after the downloads finished and make sure all the boxes were ticked. Well, I went out of the room because it had only downloaded 50% and took quite a bit of time and when I got back it was updating which took forever. When the updating was finally finished, I clicked on Settings and the first box labeled Viruses, Worms, Trojan Horses, Rootkits had a check mark in it BUT was grayed out. Why would it be grayed out? Those are the things I'm most concerned about. Could somebody help me out before I start the scan again? Thanks.

I need some direction on the Kaspersky. Ran into problems last night with it. According to the instructions I was given I was the click on settings after the downloading was done. I wasn't prepared for the updating of the virus definitions taking so long. Couple of ? before I do it again.
1) When it finally finished, I clicked settings but the first box (Virus, Worms, Trojans, etc.) was grayed out. I got confused because I would think those would be the most important things to scan for. Is it supposed to be grayed out? It was checked but it was grayed out so assumed it wasn't going to scan it.
2) Also, the scan got aborted because I foolishly hit something I wasn't supposed to. The information screen said that the program and virus definitions were put in a temporary folder. I went into Windows Explorer temp. file and it was empty. Is that where it goes into or is there another place for temp folders? If that's the only place, then I will need to do it all again.
3) It also showed the size of the virus definition files and it was KB. Why does it take so long to load? My system is normally very fast when it comes to downloading and I was surprised that it was so lengthy.
I'm going to wait until I receive an answer before I start the scan again because it takes so long and I want to have all my ducks in a row before I start. When I do the scan would you like me to post it here? Also could you tell me how a topic gets locked? If it's something I did wrong, then I will correct it.
Thanks for your time.
