Hi,
I installed and ran C Cleaner last night, the results are great and my PC is a lot faster than it was.
When I restart the PC I get the Windows Installer box come up with "......Preparing to install" for a minute or so then the messsage "Norton Antivirus 2005 does not support the Repair feature, please unistall & restall".
I am not very technically minded so apologies if this is an obvious query, do I need to un & re install C Cleaner, or Norton? I am reluctant to un & re install Norton (firstly don't know how to!) and if so will I get this every time I run C Cleaner??
Many Thanks!!!!
Advice needed after installing C Cleaner

Welcome Suggs
Having an up to date anti virus application is necessary being on today's infested Internet.
Have you kept your Norton subscription up to date?
A yearly payment is necessary to keep it up to date and usually it warns you if the subscription has run out.
If you can not afford to pay for Norton then it must be completely un-installed with its own application:
Download and run the Norton Removal Tool

The free anti virus applications that are recommended:
avast free http://www.avast.com...avast-home.html
Avira AntiVir http://www.free-av.com
To see what other applications that need updating:
Secunia Online Software Inspector

Hi YoKenny,
Thankyou for your reply.
Yes, we pay annual subscription for our Norton Antivirus, the latest doesn't run out until mid-April.....so not sure why it is coming up with this message!!
Any other ideas gratefully received!!!
Many Thanks

Hi Suggs, and a welcome from me too.
It appears to be a Norton problem, as it can appear when running other software besides CCleaner. There appears to be a fix here:
http://www.techspot....topic34780.html
There's also a fix on the Symantec website, but it's more complex.
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.n...src=bar_sch_nam
If neither of these fix the issue, I'd follow Kens advice and remove Norton with the official uninstaller tool, then either reinstall Norton, or pick a new, free Antivirus. These are just as good, and sometimes better than commercial packages.
The version of Norton you have is very bloated, and sinks it's tentacles all over your PC. Norton 2005 was the package that came with my PC, and getting rid of it was one of my better moves. I now use Avast, and have done for a couple of years.
Hope that helps.
