downloading ccleaner
I am totally disgusted. After receiving a message to download CClean, which was advertised as free, I thought why not. However when I ran the thing, it didn't take long before it went to the pay section and when I declined to buy (can't afford it) you loaded 5 viruses on my computer. How dare you.

I am totally disgusted with your back door tactics to buy your software. Not all of us have credit cards and plenty of money to buy advertised free software.

Where did you go to download CCleaner? I am only a user and I ASSURE you, it is a free product.

I can assure you ccleaner is totally free. You have obviously been tricked. Are you sure you didn't download cclean by mistake?

This is where you can download ccleaner safely from

http://www.filehippo...nload_ccleaner/

Can you list where you downloaded it from please putting xx instead of the two tt's in http.

For example

hxxp://www.filehippo.com
CCLEANER, RECUVA, DEFRAGGLER AND SPECCY DOCUMENTATION CAN BE FOUND HERE

the replies above are quite correct, CCleaner is free. it is not a paid program. and is free of viruses. i trust the site mentioned filehippo.

From my prespective, winvista club is a very good forum for all things windows related.
They have helped me and many others in the past. Excellent hints and advice!

I copied it from CCleaner.com and the icon had the red C with the paintbrush through it. It did a standard clean, then it displayed that I had 183 problems and asked whether it should repair or not. I clicked on repair and all hell broke loose as per my last entry.

I have since downloaded the ccleaner from the hippo site; needless to say I was very nervous. Then I went through the help section on that site to make sure I do everything properly. Then did a scan. I am a bit nervous to venture further into the program but the software was better than the one I had downloaded previously. I think or I have suspicions that a rogue copy of your cleaner is being downloaded which caused my unpleasant experience. All I could see in front of me was a complete Format of my hard drive to get rid of all the viruses. Anyway my Avast sorted the viruses out quickly and efficiently.
I suggest you do some investigation into any rogue software.

How can I make a donation because I don't possess a credit card and I live in South Africa. I could advertise your download on my blog perhaps.

Cheers.

Unfortunately I cannot remember the exact location of the Reg cleaner but it was definitely CCleaner so I must assume it was a rogue software with the same icon and all that.

Could you have been tricked into downloading Regcure from the link below which is on the border of being a rogue app?
http://www.ccleanerdownload.org/

If you hit the "Free Download" tab at that link you end up with Regcure and which is highly deceptive in my opinion.

If not the link and if you can remember the download location could you pm me the link please.

I think for now with all the problems you have had, just concentrate on getting used to the software.

Your 'donation' can be your continued use and referral to others of ccleaner (from Piriform and FileHippo of course :) )

Not sure if you have a link to here

Humpty get's the attaboy. It is truly sneaky and easy to fall for. How do I know? I did it once.
If it isn't broke, tweak it.

I recall it was RegCure, and the site had a icon with Windows XP cleaner which I had to click on. But it downloaded your brand name.

Who knows how it happened really Libby, the important thing is that you are okay now :)

There is a site here with 18 pages of RegCure complaints by the way.
