Just a slow computer. I've sorted that out to some degree. My current concern is that kaspersky online scanner keeps freezing, though the more i've worked to speed up my pc the further it has got before finishing. Any ideas?

If possible could you also recommend a very competent, free, risk-free registry cleaner.

Kaspersky freezing is nothing to worry about. Its probably conflicting with something

As for registry cleaners, I don't recommend any as they aren't helpful. CCleaners one would be your best bet
