Perhaps, I was thinking, since the main Cleaner already searches for and deletes other useless files, it could also delete these. They're completely useless and take up about a kilobyte each, and they get created whenever you view an image folder in Thumbnail or Slideshow mode, from the outside or inside, I believe.

Perhaps you could try disabling thumbnail view.

I think Giga wanted CCleaner to "clean-out" his old thumbs.db files, just as it cleans out other old/unused files - NOT prevent them from being generated/used.

So disabling the thumbnail view is probably not a solution ...

BTW, I tried to add the thumbs.db files via "Options -> Include", but that only allows whole directories and indevidual files, not thumbs.db files across the whole disk...

Hi Eastman, and Giga.

I don't think this is a feature worth adding to CCleaner, as deleting all the thumbs.db files is a one-off operation, and completely pointless without following the instructions from hazels provided links first.

There's no point deleting something which Windows is gonna immediately create again.

To achieve the result you want, follow hazels links and then do the following:

1) Click on Start
2) Click on Search
3) Click on All Files and Folders
4) Type the following in the section called "all or part of the file name"thumbs.db.
5) In the Look in box, make sure Local Hard Drives is chosen
6) Click Search
7) A long list of thumbs.db files should appear, click on Edit, Select All
8) Click on File, and choose Delete
9) Close the Search Results window

Hope that helps.

Also good to check: "Search from systemfiles", "Search from hidden files and folders" and "Search from subfolders". You can check those from 'More advanced options' section.
