I ran CCleaner to help clean up my pc. i actually ran it twice in a row so i don't know if this is the problem. but after i ran it my task bar disappeared. i like an idiot just rebooted. now when i restart the computer it lags on a black screen than when it finally loads i have a picture and that is all. no icons, no taskbar. i can hit control, alt, delete to get to the task manager. but i'm not sure how to use this to try and restore my computer. any help would be greatly appreciated.

okay. so this is a little stranger. i opened CCleaner and internet explorer through task manager. and suddenly everything just came back. but strangely enough it reset all my desktop settings. so looks like the issue is fixed. any ideas what i did wrong...so it won't happen again would appreciated.
thanks,
mell

Hi magickmell,
Welcome to the forums !!! :D
Strange indeed !!!
This should not have happened. If this is the first time that you installed CCleaner you definitely should have done a REBOOT before using it. Of course this is the best practice after (un)/installing or updating any software. You may have done so.
Anyhow, things like this also occur if you selected some of the Advanced cleaning options. Many new users are not prepared for the results. The same holds true for using the Registry issues function without understanding what you are doing. I advise all new CCleaner users or "Newbie" PC users to leave the Registry alone until they become much more "experienced".
