Hello,

I am having an issue with CCleaner where it is removing all file associations. I noticed this problem started AFTER i disabled UAC. I know that's not recommended, but I feel pretty confident having this feature disabled. Every time I run the registry cleaner, it classifies all my extensions as "unused file extensions". This gets pretty annoying because I have to re-associate my programs with there corresponding extensions, after each run of CCleaner's registry cleaner. Is this a known issue?

Thanks for any help.

PS: I have attached a quick screen shot of the problem.

Hello afguy, and welcome to the forum.

I can't replicate this on my Vista Home Premium 32-bit System.

CCleaner has recently become fully compatible with 64-bit versions of XP and Vista.

The following questions come to mind.

1) Have you run your Anti-Malware and Anti-Virus scans?
2) Did you run any bat file or script that could have corrupted the registry?

I Hope this helps! :)

Hey Jamin4u,

Thanks for the quick reply. To answer your questions:

1) I run a scan for both on a weekly basis and besides tracking cookies, have not found any problems
2) No scripts here. I try to avoid that unless I really know what it's for.

When I get to that computer, I will try and enable UAC (duh) and see if I still get the same results. I just remember it happening after I disabled that featured. I will also say that I did not immediately run CCleaner after I disabled UAC, so that leaves some room for other explanations. I just remember that being one of the only settings I had recently changed. I will get back with the results once I get home. Thanks again for the help.
