Hi
Can you please recommend any file sharing program(P2P)that is not infesting the PC with "Goodies" while downloading, but from the other hand you are not getting older while waiting for the files to download?

I've never had any problems with P2P software. You just have to be careful about which software you install and what kind of sharing/downloading you do. By the far the best I've ever used is FrostWire. It's a modified and improved version of the very popular Lime Wire.

I have uTorrent installed, but only because some sites offer no traditional download due to hosting costs, and of course to get the higher quality Ogg encodings from Jamendo.

I use emule. It's a little trickier to set up, but it works great and I've never gotten anything nasty from it. Found here:

Just keep in mind several things when using p2p. Legal issues concerning what you download in your country. And the amount you download (some internet providers "throttle" or slow your connection at peak times if you are using p2p and download too much).

For bittorrents, i would use azeurus (or now known as vuze). It has a lot of great options and seems to be very reliable. Found here:

As a side note, anything for file sharing found on filehippo will be clean in itself, but its the products that you download that may be infected. Only download from trusted sources or reputable websites if you want to keep your computer clean.

I mainly go the uTorrent/Limewire route. I've never had a problem. I don't leave them 24/7 like some people do.

Once used Kazza on an old PC, and one day we had a huge virus and the only way to get rid of it was through a reformat. It was bad.

Avast Antivirus Home Edition has a built-in P2P Resident Shield, but with uTorrent you have to tick it in Avast for it to scan the files, however I still always scan the files myself with both Avast and SUPERAntiSpyware.

I use Limewire. It's clean.
Files you download using it may not be, especially if you elect to download programs or (some) movies.
(The downloading of cracked programs is particularly fraught, and the user is likely to get what is deserved.)
Take the time to learn, maybe on the Limewire (or any p2p) forum how to more easily recognise such files.
Whatever you download, scan it before running it.

Thank you for your replies, I`ve tried 3 P2P known programs, 2 of them were infesting my PC over and over again (scanned them before opening trial). The files download was very fast and ....with a lot of "goodies" in it , mind you these were not crackers or some other questionable stuff...
The one that was clean as a whistle although much slower, was e Mule, with about a week of downloading without even one detected malware, against a full load of detections with the others.
So I guess I`ll be better safe than sorry...

I mainly use BitComet (0.70). Also have eMule and BearShare (the latest "safe" version). I very rarely use BS now a days though.

Awesome choice, totally my favorite.

Remember to set up a static ip to help the mule run properly. Heres a guide:

Also forward your ports if using a router, it helps keep things stable. Heres a guide:

Also, you will want to get a good clean server list. Heres a couple of sites with some clean lists:

Also, emule has a built in IP blocker which blocks a range of bad IPs. But heres a link to a couple of great programs that help protect your privacy:

Keep in mind that there is no official support yet for Vista for either of these products.

And for privacy reasons, make sure you set emule to use an obfuscated connection, and to find good sources, "bootstrap" (or enable) the "KAD" feature under the Kad tab.
