I am here at the suggestion of DennisD who was helping me under a thread I posted headed Uninstalling.
I have tried to carry out all suggestions.
below is what is happening
Every time I close the computer down it gets to the stage it says it wants to install updates. It then comes up with installing 2/12. it remains on this even if left on overnight, like it is frozen. The sentence about closing down when it has finished alternates with one telling you not to turn it off. The only way to turn off the computer is by cutting the power. it does not respond to end task command. I have Bullguard a/v installed & have run a full scan. also just run CCleaner as someone suggested. How do I get rid of these updates that do not install and am therefore able to turn off the computer normally?. generally the computer seems sluggish and odd things freeze it such as trying to uninstalling Epson printer software. I was doing this as on starting Up I get ''Spoolersub system App encountered a problem & needs to clear'' and during closure I get ''Status monitor3 Environment Check not responding''. Both of these have to closed by using ''end task '' after Ctrl/alt/del command.

I did use Bitdefender but failed to save the log properly. It said it did not come up with anything. I have managed to find a log from my normal A/V, Bullguard which is below.

Just came accross some files in a folder called 'Temp' which then had subfolders for all the software i use. There is still a folder headed epson in there with lots of log type stuff in. Is this what I have been trying to uninstall unsuccessfully both with windows uninstaller and CCleaner? Can I do something with it from there?
Opps too many questions.
Thanks very much to those kind folk who are helping me, Ping
