Newbie here. My apologies if I'm "spraying" this issue all over the joint rather than targeting it at the proper subgroup. I don't know any better yet.
Here's my problem. My kids computer is getting popup windows offering porn. The popups come up 3-4 at a time w/o popups being temporarily enabled. Closing one popup often results in at least one more popping up, sometimes 3 or 4 more. Blocking popups in IE Internet Options has no effect. Norton 360 has no effect on them. If I go into IE Tools/Internet Options/Delete All, It has a very short term effect on the popups then its back to porn biz as usual. The computer has become glacially slow when switching websites or going deeper into a site. This computer is used for sites like Webkinz, Neopets, Nickjr, Disneychannel, Youtube (viewing only,no acct), Myspace(viewing only, no acct), etc. Not to point any fingers at AOL (IMHO, The Great Satan of the www) but this popup issue seemed to directly coincide with loading AIM. The older daughter just haaaaaad to have AIM in order to IM with her girlfriends.
Any suggestions on how I can fix these issues (porn popups, slow performance)?
