Just a quick google search
A few sites worth checking out:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/ho.../choosing2.mspx

http://www.ucs.ed.ac.../homevspro.html

http://www.worldstar...s/tips.php/1433

And in terms of is it worth upgrading you have to look at what you'll be needing it for. But usually the answer is no. Be sure to check the sites above.

I've found Pro handles memory better.

Yes, please. It's the first time I've heard of this and I'm interested.

I've used identical machines (Minus the OS) where it was Home and Pro. I mean all the hardware, everything was the same. Yet I found that Pro loaded things faster, etc. Could be cause of the extra features too.

There's a lot of factors in that... Prefetch, RAM, HD, system startup (registry, startup folder) etc.

Professional is also better at networking.

If you have Home but can upgrade to Professional for free then it might be worth it.
If you have Home but consider buying Professional then its definitly not worth it.

wizKid1,

Please only post when it is relevant to the topic, the discussion was about XP Home or XP Pro. Windows Media Center has not even been questioned.

Whilst I am at it Eldmannen, how can someone upgrade from Home to Pro for free?

We dont discuss illegal software or means of obtaining software illegally here, hence the pinned Freeware Topic.
