I just downloaded this program, because I have a virus, a pretty bad one that apparently nothing can delete ;\, and I'm pretty sure this won't remove it, but got it anyway.

So my question is, after I scan, it finds all kind of thigns. One (as an example) says this

c:\documents and settings\shane\recent\evanescence-in_the_shadows.ink 735 bytes

My question is.. will this delete the actual ALBUM ? Or, will this delete only an image of some sort that I got from clicking it before?

I'm pretty sure it wont delete any of my files... but I don't know, that's why I'm asking. Alot of these files I can't afford to lose.

thanks :)

You would be better putting your efforts into getting rid of the virus seronic. I'm sure you have backups of your music etc, so using CCleaner to delete your temp files should be fine. Although it will not clean virus/malware files

Download hjt log installer from here

Do a scan, save the log file, copy and paste it into the spyware hell part of the forum

The nip down to Poundland/Dixons/Woolies/anywhere and buy a fiver's worth of CDRs, and copy all of the files you can't afford to lose to them. Then devise a backup process where you have copies of your valuable files on at least two cdrs.

Then follow H's excellent advice. Get help from the major a/v producers' websites to get rid of your virus asap.

I find that the .lnk files are just shortcuts to the 'real' files, and can be deleted with impunity. CC will not delete user files/folders with impunity.

Thank you guys :). I did post my thing in the spyware hell section, and I believe my trojan is gone now thanks to you, but who knows. Scanning a few times to make sure :)))

No this is just a shortcut in the recent documents section (Start Menu >Documents shows the most recent documents//songs you opened CCleaner removes the quick link)

But there is no reason to CCleaner UNTIL the TROJAN IS GONE.

Clean that first deal with your "Crap" (Thus the name crap cleaner) Later
ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION
DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.
Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)
ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.
