Does anybody know any good game development packages. I'm looking at commercial products actually.

There is a app called blender it is for 3d modelling etc, not sure if its exactly what you are looking for but here is the link any how.

Blender is good 3D modelling.
Wings3D I also heard is good.
GIMP is good for graphics editing.

But for game developement you must be pretty good at computers.

There is also SDL (Simple DirectMedia Layer) that you can use.
And there are SDK and engines but it depends on what type of game you want to make.

You probably should visit some game-developement community where people know alot about these kinds of stuff.

I came right with a package called Game Maker (http://www.gamemaker.nl/), original name I know but it has hordes of tutorials and documentation.
