Hi,
I'm a long time user of CCleaner and I have been extremely happy with your product.
However, after installing/running v.2.06, CCleaner not only emptied my recycle bin, it also emptied D:\$recycle bin$\, which means, v.2.06 dumped 12+ gigs of legitimate Windows Back-up files!
This wasn't the end of the world, I simply had to create another fresh back-up.
I've uninstalled v.2.06 and reinstalled v.2.05.

Did I mess up somewhere? :(
Has anyone else experienced this annoyance?

Acer E700
Q6600 2.4 quad
2 GB Ram
500 Gb hard drive
Vista Home Premium.

Hi Orphan,
Do you sometimes use the Options > Include feature? What is specified in there?
Good Luck,

If you happened to do a clean install of CCleaner by removing the previous version, then installing v2.06 that could explain why your settings were gone. It's perfectly safe and actually recommended to just install new versions over previous versions to retain the settings.

Complexity of incoherent design.

Hi again,
Yes, I did uninstall the previous version prior to installing v.2.06, but I was careful (like always) to duplicate my usual settings. In all versions I have used the Empty Recycle Bin option without incident.
I only disallow the cleaning of Memory Dumps, Computer Logs, Windows Defender(to maintain last scan history) and my Antivirus, so I have a forensic history "if" and "when" there are computer problems. I also use the Single Pass option. All other settings are default.
Why 2.06 decided to clean D:\$Recycle Bin$\, I have no idea. But, I did watch the cleaning path in the CCleaner GUI and during the cleaning, I opened the the properties of D drive and watched the size shrink from 21.6 GB down to 9.2 Gb.
My scheduler is set to perform a back-up on the last day of each month and an hour or so after installing 2.06, my computer began it's monthy task but announced that it could not find any files to back-up to and suggested that I create another complete back-up, which I did.
Strange, strange, strange!

Like I said prior, I am a longtime user of CCleaner and I am quite familiar with the various features/settings and I have always used the Empty Recycle Bin option without incident.
I simply uninstalled 2.06 and went back to 2.05 and applied the necessary settings. (Display Cleaning Details added for documented v. 2.05 bug)

If necessary, I can re-download v. 2.06 (FileHippo) and try again, but having to create another complete back-up is a time consuming pain. <_<

Many thanx for your time, effort and wonderful utility! :D

Cheers

Hello again,

Thank you for the quick replies to this strange problem.

As it turned out, either the download of v. 2.06 was bad or the installation went wrong. I'm not sure which.
Anyway... I downloaded a fresh copy of V. 2.06, installed it over v. 2.05 and all is well once more. :D

No more emptying of D:\$recycle bin$\. ;)

Thanks again for this wonderful product and the prompt support! :D
