My computer seems to be acting a bit sluggish lately, although I scan every night and find nothing. I have also Defragged, used Disc Cleanup and CCleaner with little to no improvement. Now, by sluggish, I don't mean slow between browsing folders, but my Firefox seems to be pausing between switching tabs and loading pages. Even while typing this, I'm noticing a delay a bit... but only a few milliseconds(I guess?). Is it the fact that I am my Gmail Inbox and Meebo open, which both are pretty script heavy? I'm not using many add-ons either: Addblock with Filterset G and the McAfee SiteAdvisor. I'm just noticing the sluggishnesh(that isn't a word, but you get my point :P) after using them for quite some time. I just loading a page and switched tabs, then went back, and there was about a 2-5 second pause between switching. It waited until the page loaded.

I have no idea why it started. I have Pentium 4 3GHz processor with 1GB of RAM. Right now, with Meebo, Gmail, Myspace, and this tab open, Firefox is using 455,504KB.

Would updating my Java help?

AVG hasn't detected anything other than a cookie or two in the past few weeks. Spybot didn't detect anything.

So, I just did some browsing on Google.

http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-view_forum..._parentId=10046

Their problem seemed to be from Spybot, but eventually was CookieSafe... which I don't use. I recently did upgrade to the new Spybot, and maybe that's when this stuff started.

I hate to be the only one talking in my post, but I did some more things:

I removed bookmarks and am now using the standard Firefox theme, thinking maybe it'll free up some resources Firefox uses and will help... but I haven't noticed anything. It's still got a bit of a delay now, but only when something is loading on the page.

Also, Meebo's Instant Messaging sound has been delayed after a few seconds, again, while something else is loading.

*Generally, I noticed these things while loading a page on Conceptart.org with lots of pictures, like http://conceptart.or...ad.php?t=118126

To add another nuisance, I recently had to unplug everything and move my computer into another room while the carpet in here was taken up. During that time, I got many Q-Tips and cleaned the outside of the case and blew around inside the case. Now, my fan seems to be spurring back and forth, like it would before, when I was using a high CPU usage, 70%+. Now, it jumps back and forth between 0-4%, occasionally up to 20%(from Firefox). Anyone know the cause?

I am not noticing any serious performance changes, but I generally don't have any continuous problems with my computer, as I usually keep things running well...
