I upgraded to CCleaner version 2.04.543 from 1.27.210 Since the upgrade the log window is blank after running Analyze. The progress bar is fully blue and no log information is displayed (blank window). I deleted and reinstalled the program and finally reinstalled the old version which now has the same problem. Go figure.
My OS is Windows 98se. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the idea. I just ran uninstall, downloaded and installed the slim build. Same result. The log window remains blank and the progress bar is fully blue after running analyze.

If so a Reboot might do the trick.
I know simple but had to ask.
Good Luck,
The fact that you say the progress bar is blue is interesting?
Mine has always been "green".
In the latest version you also want to check the boxes at OPTIONS > Advanced for detailed log for IE
and FIREFOX/MOZILLA.

I tried running analyze again one item at a time. It appears the problem occurs when analyzing cookies. If that box is left unchecked the others seem to work ok. The color of the progress bar is probably a function of the Windows color scheme. I just wanted to indicate that it was filled in completely and had not returned to or stopped at a blank condition.

Are you using the latest version v.2.04 now?
Are you seeing the new features on the analyze window?.
Most important you read the latest Guide. So many new features and options.

Andavari's Post may help also. Not sure but always good to keep MS software up-to-date.

Win98 is an obsolete operating system and MS has not released an update in several years and it is very vulnerable to many malware infections.

If after you press analyse and get no visible list, what happens if you then press run cleaner?

You are correct about Win98 SE age.But some folks "got to run what they brung".
Prior to suggesting it, I did check out Andavari's link to MS and it applies to Win98 SE also.
Still not sure if it will help his display problem.
It would be nice to see other Win98 SE users respond.

Windows 98se has been fine for my use. It is listed in the systems supported by CCleaner. I don't want to buy the printer, scanner, programs and everything else that will be required if I upgrade. Let alone spending the hours fixing everything after an upgrade. Also win 98 worked fine with my previous version of CCleaner until I updated. If I reinstall the previous version of CCleaner it now has the same problem as the new version. Figures. The new version of CCleaner I am using at the moment is 2.04.543 which I believe is the latest download.
When I run analyze I see the files being analyzed in the display window. If I analyze 'Internet Explorer -Cookies' by itself or with other items checked at the end of the analysis I end up with a blank display window. If I uncheck 'cookies' and analyze I get a normal list of the files to be cleaned. I have not run cleaner when I have a blank window because I do not know what files would be cleaned and I do not want to do something that would crash the whole computer.
I have downloaded the user guide and I have tried the slim-build without success.
I believe my system has plenty of power to run this program.
Microsoft Windows 98 4.10.2222 A
Clean install using CD /T:C:\WININST0.400 /SrcDir=E:\WIN98 /IZ /IS /IQ /IT /II /NR /U:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
IE 6.0.2800.1106
Uptime: 0:01:19:28
Normal mode
GenuineIntel x86 Family 15 Model 4 Stepping 1
496MB RAM
67% system resources free
Windows-managed swap file on drive C (20332MB free)
Available space on drive C: 20332MB of 29283MB (FAT32)

You took off before I had time to reply.Your "rig" looks like a good "ride" to me.
Were you able to get the prior version re-installed? Are you downloading the old version correctly from FileHippo?
Did you get in contact with the Win 98 user YoKenny recommended at Calendar of Updates .
You can link there from YoKenny's reply.
Have you checked with other Win 98 users on the net?
We need this feed back to get this problem fixed for you and other Win 98 users.
Edit.
Are you saviing all settings to .ini file? See OPTIONS > ADVANCED.
Create a copy of your CCleaner.ini file. This way you have a copy of your "cookies to keep" settings.
Then use IE to delete all your Cookies. Then try CCleaner again.Don't delete that copy until this problem is resolved.
Keep us informed.
Best Wishes,

I think my problem is solved. I copied all of the cookies from my Windows Cookies file to a backup folder. Then I tried deleting the cookies from IE but that only emptied the temp cookies so I used the Windows explorer, selected all of the files in the Windows Cookies folder and deleted them. It refused to delete the Dat file but that was ok. I now ran the latest version of CCleaner and it seemed to work ok even getting rid of that pesky Dat file for me. I did a restart and a recheck of CCleaner. Seems to be working ok for now. I will know for sure after I get a file full of new cookies to get rid of. But in the mean time all seems well. Thanks again to all of those who helped.
