For those of you who use Firefox and have it store your logins and passwords, have you ever had a situation where that information has been compromised, or is it relatively secure?

Also, how important is it to use the "Master Password" feature in conjunction with that?

I dont recommend anyone do this. It just seems like your setting youself up to have bad things happen.
I think someone posted a program on here not too long ago that would reveal the passwords rather easily.(I'm pretty sure it was both windows passwords and browser passwords.)

If you just had to do this I would think it would be better to use something like this:

Even then all it takes is one password to unlock every other password on your pc. Just doesn't seem worth it to save a few keystrokes even if the odds are slim you'll get hacked.

I use it for websites like this...but I don't keep real sensitive information stored, like usernames to websites, where they can get at credit cards and such.

You may want to have a look at Secure Login which is a Firefox addon similar to the Wand in Opera.

Don't know if it enhances security or what not but it saves me filling in login details if needed.

Actually, I've been reviewing RoboForm -- it looks pretty good (and fairly secure, I think??).

I tried that a while back and it caused problems with Firefox so dumped it (plus it was far more bloated than what I needed it for)

I also had a problem with Firefox when I attempted to use the last free version of RoboForm. However, I downloaded the current commercial version, and so far, everything is running smooth as silk -- behaving just as it should.

More than just cookie stealing is possible with JavaScript when the web browser has unpatched security leaks. Particularly Internet Explorer, Browsercheck site whether your own browser is vulnerable to such attacks

Use Mozilla Firefox with the following addons:

Secure Login
SafeCache
SafeHistory
KeyScrambler

Secure Login protects you by basically sandboxing your stored passwords until needed by a webpage that uses the stored login information. SafeCache and SafeHistory protect you from threats caused by spyware that gets a hold of your cache and/or history. KeyScrambler encrypts any and all keystrokes so as to protect you from KeyLoggers.
