Hi Kingofmyworld01,
I don't have personal laptop experience but in latest readings (alot so I don't remember exactly where) I read that some laptops do this because they are very low on battery power.
Recommend search MS etc. as regards low battery power.
Good Luck and hope somebody offers me a free laptop,
:) davey

Boot into a live cd linux distro, one that has at least NTFS read support by default. Or use PE Builder to make a useful ntfs-ready xp cd.
