Is there a suggested, universal boot sequence one ought to use? I just went in and changed the boot settings for CMOS, and I was wondering if anyone has heard of a suggested sequence that users should use...
Thanks you for a response.

Universal boot sequence? I don't know about that but it definitely help if you put the HD first because it helps load faster a bit. Most PC now has specific key if you need to boot from CD so you can put that one at the bottom

My preference is to set it to boot from floppy A: then CD-ROM then the hard drive.
The reason I like to have it set up this way is to enable booting a floppy with a basic operating system ( OS ) that I can run FDISK to set up hard drive partitions then run FORMAT and then boot an operating system CD to install it.
I do this without the system being physically being connected to an Internet connection as the system is most vulnerable during the OS install installation without a firewall.
I then insure that the OS's firewall is activated and begin the process of installing the OS Security Updates.

Thank you guys for your info.
I never knew your OS was most vulnerable to viruses and things while the OS is being installed. Thanks for the page, 1984. I am going to book mark it.
