I am really sick of the Windows XP theme, and I was wondering how to change it. I've heard of needing reg hacks, and other things, but I really like some of the custom themes people have posted through the monthly desktop posts. I'm running XP Home, so if you guys can point me in the right direction, I would be very grateful.

Thanks,

You need an Uxtheme patcher in order to use non-Microsoft signed visual styles.

I meant to say, "Where do I put the file that I downloaded?" Well, I stuck it in the folder where the "Custom" theme is, and opened it from there...here's a screen shot!

I'm currently using Stolen 17 by leosss on deviantART. I replaced its default shellstyle to my liking, which was also from leosss.

Still use Zune theme here as well. Love the orange and black. matches Firefox perfectly.

I have used SlanXP Edition 3 Visual Style for a long time now. It's very nice and don't got any problems on it (IMO). Previous versions of SlanXP are also nice. Lassekongo83 makes very nice and clean VS's. I also got some other themes, but i hardly use them, cause SlanXP is so nice. I try from time to time some new styles, but they almost always got some problems on them or they just aren't nice.

They takes some memory, but if you got a plenty of RAM, it doesn't really matter. If you don't got much RAM, it's better to disable 'Themes' service to free up some recourses.
