I've been wondering for a while wether or not IE caches downloaded files, by that I mean an MP3 file or text document via "Save Target As..." option. According to CCleaner, a file is downloaded but it isn't included in the total cache size.

I don't think that the file is cached, if you choose an "Save Target As..." option.

Well after a file has finished downloading it is copied from the cache rather than moved, so that doesn't suggest that.
