A format/install of XP and may be a nice machine for the price?

Staples is selling the Compaq Presario C712US for $349.98 on Black Friday. The C712US will be discounted by $400 for the post-Thanksgiving Day sale.

The C712US features an Intel Core Duo processor (T2310), 1GB of memory, 80GB hard drive and DVD burner.

This notebook is adequte for basic home users and is more than powerful enough for basic photo editing, web browsing and productivity applications. The C712US is not robust enough for complex video games or intensive video editing. It’s still an excellent value at $349, assuming you can get your hands on one on Black Friday.

The Presario C712US comes with Windows Vista Home Premium.

Thanks for the heads up Hump! This is soooo tempting. My wife uses the desk top more and more and I'll be retiring in May so we'll be visiting kids more often. It would be nice to carry my sites with me. My "mad" (my dad use to call it his knock down money, lol) is down to around $300 because I purchased a hand gun recently but there is always plastic. Will be interesting to see if Best Buy or online sites like newegg get in the fray.

Tempting..but 1 GB of RAM with VISTA HP?? My neighbor has one..it is real slow... Then again, I would just reinstall Vista and then install what I want.

There's also a TV ad for a US based walk-in store that has a notebook for $229 USD, that I briefly payed little attention to when watching the tele the other night.
Complexity of incoherent design.

A gig of ram is only like 30 bucks at best buy.
Thats not a bad price for that notebook at all and if I needed one and wasn't to lazy to get up early and get it I would buy one.

They also have a killer deal on a 200 desktop

I would buy that desktop but I have litterally no where to put it at the moment. I'll still get to play with one though because someone I know is picking up and wants me to set it up for them.(I'm going to install xp on it. :P )
