I did visit an online card site and downloaded their program but haven't joined or done anything
with it. Site is UBT (Ultimate Blackjack Tour). The problem with "Marked for Deletion" omissions is
very recent. Did have a hacker try to access IE5.index.dat file - request was picked up by AVAST
so is probably related to that. Have recently installed the latest ZoneAlarm suite on a trial basis
and that may be stopping some hack attempts.
Avast seems good at stopping internet mail attempts to snoop files and Spybot Search and Destroy
is very good at picking up registry changes (The latter can be a pain on installing a new program so may be a good idea to exit this program while installing something new).
Have also found that basic Windows firewall closes all ports, while Ghost Surf and Anonymizer allow open ports while purporting to provide safe and anonymous surfing. Check your computer security at
grc.com (Gibson Research, bunch of free programs here plus IP check, etc. This site will check
ports and give pass/fail with detail on open ports - ALL FREE.)
I'm just a newbie here and NOT an expert on comp security - just passing along some observations
in hopes it will help others. General lesson is that anon surfing is difficult to achieve and that
some programs may actually degrade your computer security while providing a false sense that
you are invisible on the net. If you want to try out grc.com, click on "Shields Up" on the splash screen, look for clickable link on "Shields Up" under HOT SPOTS, which displays a screen with your IP address and other info. Click on "Proceed" which will take you to a silver bar with options for
checking your ports and file sharing status. This is ALL FREE and I have no association with this site.
