I have a pen that says "College Loan Corporation' that has a really funky smell. It bothered me so much that
I stopped using it. Is it possible that the ink may have lead in it? or just cheap ink? Anyone?

I had pens before that have had an odor which I contributed to the ink.

Maybe it's a security feature, nobody will want your stinky pen.

You never heard someone referring to something as smelling a bit funky? Just out of curiosity, not knowing myself, I thought I'd see if it was slang or a genuine meaning of the word. And lo and behold it's in the Chambers Dictionary:

funky adj (funkier, funkiest) colloq:
1 said of jazz or rock music: strongly rhythmical and emotionally stirring.
2 trendy; good • What funky socks you've got on!
3 earthy; smelly.

So if someone said, as in the definition, your socks are a bit funky, you wouldn't know if it was an insult or compliment :D

That's why facial expressions are so important. If they're smiling, then those are some cool looking socks. If they're covering their nose, burn those socks quickly.

But who's really an avid socks watcher?

Nope, but I have now. :D

And that compliment or insult twist could be useful.
