[blasting jesus]

Hi there ,
today as i was in the middle of some work ,something strange happened.
I ran Mozilla Firefox and to my surprise my bookmarks ,my extensions and my themes were all gone along with my settings.
I don't mean deleted , they were all disabled as i had just installed a new version of mozilla.
I use mozilla 2.0.0.7 for a long time now , this is the second time i face this problem.
My scan logs (bitdefender , avira , superantispyware , avg ) were all clear.

**Note** -> i just got rid of Comodo Firewall cause i want to use a different one .So except for two or three hours this computer has been fully protected against everything.I'm thinking of using PC tools free firewall.What do you think of it?

Thanks for your patience, with this topic already having afew replies it makes it alot easier for us to miss and assume your already being helped as some of us will look for the oldest log with 0 posts first

Your log looks fine, just a couple of entries to fix,

Run HijackThis and choose Do A System Scan then place a check next to these entries

Close all open browser and other windows except for HijackThis and press the Fix Checked button

If you think there maybe some malware problems please run an online scan with Kaspersky and post back the results

Run Kaspersky WebScanner

• Please go HERE and click Kaspersky Online Scanner
  
• Read and Accept the Agreement
  
• You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  
• If you see a Windows [dialog asking if you want to install this software, click the Install button.
  
• The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files,
  
• When the "Update progress" line changes to "Ready" and the "NEXT ->" button becomes available, please click on it.
  
• Click on the Scan Settings button, and in the next window select the Extended database, and click Ok.
  
• Under "Please select a target to scan:", click My Computer to start the scan.
  
• When the scan is finished, click the "Save as Text" button, and save the file as kavscan.txt to your Desktop, close the Kaspersky On-line Scanner window.

Regarding the problem with Firefox, you maybe best posting about that in the software area of this forum as Im sure alot of other members will use that browser and maybe able help or post on the mozillazine forums

Sorry to have kept you waiting , sorry for the multiple posts also Andy in the first place , i should have taken into consideration that you are very busy.
Fixed those entries you mentioned , fixed also the firefox problem , i'm posting a new HJT log just to make sure everything is alright.

Ps:I want to get rid of this entry :O23 - Service: LiveShare P2P Server 9 (RoxLiveShare9) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\9.0\SharedCOM\RoxLiveShare9.exe (file missing).I have uninstalled Roxio a long time ago but this entry keeps reappearing.Also Roxio left my system with a DVD Drive in my comp section .I tried to uninstall it a lot of times but keeps coming back every time i reboot.I also used an .exe found at kelly's korner website for drives left back by previous software but no luck.Any ideas?

Regarding the service, have you tried disabling it by going to start > run > type services.msc then press ok and check for LiveShare P2P Server 9, right click it and choose properties then click Stop if the button isnt grayed out and change the startup type from Automatic to Disabled and click Apply and OK, if you wanted to fully remove it from your PC then you could goto start > run > and type sc delete RoxLiveShare9 which will delete the service,

For the DVD drive icon, have you tried uninstalling it using the Device Manager (start > run > type devmgmt.msc, if you have then it maybe best to post on their forums for advise http://forums.support.roxio.com/ or start a topic in the software/hardware area of this forum so other members can help,

If you do get time run the Kaspersky scan from the last post just to make sure there's no malware problems but your HijackThis log looks fine, let me know if you have any problems removing the Roxio service though

I solved the problem with the Roxio service by deleting it , thanks a lot .
The thing with the DVD-drive still remains.I looked at their forum but didn't find anything that i didn't already know.

As you can see 3 infected files are detected.Cryptload is a download manager with a specific characteristic.When someone like me doesn't owe a rapidshare or megaupload account has to wait for a long time between downloads.So every time i had to disconnect my modem manually so as to change my ISP.This download manager does exactly this.It takes a list of links for files hosted in one of those two sites and after each download it disconnects by itself and reconnects after 45 secs.I find it very useful especailly when i am not in front of the computer.I think it's totally safe but i would like your opinion.
When AVG antispyware detected this "threat" the recommended action by the program was to ignore it.

You would be best posting on the forum, if you believe that Roxio has left a drive showing on the machine even after its been removed and after you have tried uninstalling it using the device manager then you should contact Roxio or post on their forums for advise

The Kaspersky scan looks fine, netcat is a clean application and not a threat by itself although it could be used for malicious reasons to gain access to the system which is why most AV's will detect it as a risk tool but its fine to leave on the PC if its in a program you trust and use.

The HijackThis log also looks fine, just fix this entry

Run HijackThis and choose Do A System Scan then place a check next to this entry

Close all open browser and other windows except for HijackThis and press the Fix Checked button

Apart from that your logs look fine, consider posting on the Roxio forum to resolve the remaining issue your having or as mentioned in the last post start a new topic in the software/hardware area of this forum so other members can respond, If its created by Roxio then its unusual to still be there after its been removed and also return at each reboot even after its been uninstalled on the device manager, that makes it sound like a drive that is still present on the machine so I think its safer you speak to Roxio about it rather than us take any guesses about what the problem is.
