Hello,

I've been using CC for a few years now, without any problems. My version notified me tat an update was due tonight, and after trying to run it, an error message stated that the download had been blocked because by Windows because CC did not have a valid digital signiature, despite it clearly stating the certificate was valid. When i tried to save the download to my desktop, to run it from there, an error message sted that the file was ' missing or corrupt' and to get in touch with the manufacturers/publishers. In short, i can't update my version. I'm an intermediate user, but have not had problems with updating CC before this. I wondered if anyone else was having similar problems, or could kindly advise me how i might be able to resolve this.

Many thanks,

Jazzymazzy

It might be easier in the long run with your problems to uninstall totally your version, and download the new version 2.01.507.

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion. I know this sounds crass and simplistic; but i can't find CCleaner listed to uninstall it on either CCleaner uninstall list, or windows remove programmes. I do want a clean uninstall, and will reinstall as advised. Any sugestions please?

If you have the shortcut of your present version on the desktop, right-click it and choose properties, under the shortcut tab it will tell you there where the program is installed.

Do you still have the shortcut?

Hi,

Yes, i still have the shortcut, and can access properties and can access the three tabs ' general' 'shortcut' and 'compatability'. How do i do a clean unistall please? I'll try and reininstall as advised once i've uninstalled CCleaner.

Cheers,

When you press the start button, and then all programs, is CCleaner not listed there?
If it is there should be an uninstall option.

What are you using by the way, XP, vista or windows 2000?

Hi,

The shortcut tab indicates that the 'target' is located at : "C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner.exe" Do i simply do a search and delete all the listed files found? CCleaner uninstall is not listed on my uninstall options. I'm using XP Home edition. I simply don't want to delete anything else by mistake. CCleaner isn't listed in my add or remove programmes option in XP as stated previously.

Thanks,

Jazzymazzy

If you double click "my computer", then double click on C drive, then on programs, you should then see the CCleaner folder. Right click and delete the folder, then delete it from the recycle bin.

If for any reason it won't let you, try in safe mode. In case you are unsure about using safe mode here are some instructions

Here is a direct link to the setup, remember to choose whether or not you want the yahoo toolbar, you have a choice.

Download the setup to your desktop and try and install.

Let us know how you get on :)

I've been trying to install CCleaner on a Windows 98 SE machine and when I try, I get an error that says that CCleaner couldn't create CCleaner.exe and I get the choice of Abort, Retry or Ignore. If I retry, it doesn't go any further. If I Abort it quits. If I ignore, it goes though the rest of the install normally, but when I try to open the program, it doesn't work. I've tried upgrading with the old version on there, and doing it after uninstalling that version. I've also tried the slim version. Thank you.
