I'm finishing up my website and all that I have left is adding themes and pictures. From what I understand I need a ftp client to do that.
1. What program should I use?
2. How do you upload it to your website?
Also I am using cpanel if that makes it any easier.

IE has a built-in FTP client, but I recommend FlashFXP. You will to connect to the ftp, example ftp://ftp.CCleaner.com with a user name and password.

Shame IE isn't secure.

Try this pretty number:

FireFTP

Introducing fireFTP, a cross-platform FTP client for Mozilla Firefox which provides easy and intuitive access to FTP servers. NOTE: This program is still in 'beta' meaning that while it works just fine, it is still in development and there are still features and improvements to be made.

I've always used Cuteftp, works well and isn't too expensive.

You should be able to download at www.cuteftp.com

Thanks everybody I figured it out. I went with the firefox extension, I seems to work well enough and adds another great feature to what is becoming a powerhouse of a program. Thanks for the example TM it helped alot.

I also use WS_FTP Pro which is awesome and easy too.

.tar should be able to be unzipped with WinRAR.

So unzip the file and upload the folders.

Nevermind, I went with zip genius 6. It was really simple and thats what I wanted. It tried 7 zip first and that was one messed up program. I had practically no interface and was still complicated.

CuteFTP contains spyware!
WS FTP sucks.
FlashFXP is good, but its not free, it cost money, and if you use the demo, it will nag the hell out of you.

FileZilla is a free, open-source (GNU GPL) FTP client, it is easy to use, it is great, its competly spy/adware free.

WinRAR isnt free, neither is WinZip.

7-Zip is a great, free, open-source (GNU LGPL) archiver, it is easy to use, it handles most formats such as 7z, ZIP, CAB, RAR, ARJ, GZIP, BZIP2, Z, TAR, CPIO, RPM and DEB.

It offers fast compression/decompression, it also has its own .7z format which offers superior compression ratio.

You know, people are asking for other's opinions on things. Saying programs suck isn't the best idea. Something tells me you keep that up and you won't be here too long.

So why not try to HELP instead of say "This sucks, that sucks." alright?

CCleaner is for people who want to avoid spyware and crap.
CuteFTP contains the TimeSink spyware, hence it sucks.

Congrats, you just proved how uneducated you are.

Straight from the CCleaner.com frontpage.

CCleaner (Crap Cleaner) is a freeware system optimization and privacy tool. It removes unused files from your system - allowing Windows to run faster and freeing up valuable hard disk space. It also cleans traces of your online activities such as your Internet history. But the best part is that it's fast (normally taking less that a second to run) and FREE! :)

CCleaner is about cleaning junk files from your system, removing temp files and cleaning MRU files. It doesn't look for spyware. It can clean some out of the TEMP directories, but it doesn't scan or seek it out.

Never mentioned it does scan for spyware (I know very well it dont), but it a program for people who wish to avoid crap. And spyware falls under the crap category.

I feel the climate of this debate isnt very good. :/

Not sure if anyone here watches fox news but this sounds like "spin" to me.
