Heres a great little program I found. Been using it for a bit and its really handy. It can set UAC in "quiet" mode, which doesnt disable it, but doesn't give you those constant annoying prompts. Heres the link:

Yes but it still requires a reboot each time you use it. No easy way around it

i didnt reboot. just installed and BANG! no more prompting "are you sure you want to do this?" anymore. and it gives you the option to set it into "quiet" mode, or have it fully engaged, or turned fully off. so far, no problems, and its exactly what i needed to make the vista operating system user friendly for me.

Sounds good I'll give it a try. No annoying prompt in the task tray advising that the protection is disabled??

im looking at my tray right now and dont see one. it does show that little security system shield (when the tray is expanded) that it need s something. i just find that a lot less annoying then the UAC.

Ok this does work better. I only get the "Shield" X'd out in red. Otherwise pretty good. I would think it would go back to the default setting after I reboot. Guess I'll see

It can also be done manually through local security policies.

In fact you can show and boot into the full blown admin account through a setting in there as well.

and how can I get to Security settings? Local security options

With Vista Ultimate - Control Panel (classic view) - Admin Tools - Local Security Policiy.

Some users say it's not there which may be the case for other Vista versions.

yeah not in the home premium edition. bummer. sort of how i found the program through googling.

try XdN tweaker,available from major geeks.it does the same as your program but a lot of very handy tweaks as well.and it is free.
