daughter has tiscali broadband with avg on. It detected this tojan in a file called sychost.exe. It removes all icons for connection to internet, even in network connections. She redid them manually but soon as she got online it killed all icons again. Tiscali said it was a new one but didn't offer much help. She cannot go online to download anything, can I download anything to memory stick to her??

Hazelnut :(

hope someone out there can help
P>S> Tiscali broadband number is 0.38 the same as the trojan

Download Avast Home for her and this Anti-Malware Package too.

Even a HijackThis log can help to stop the virus.

Thanks Tarun for quick reply
First, daughter has done 2nd scan. avg says the back door 38 trojan is now in sychost2.exe along with 1. It's breeding!!
Your link to malware zip doesn't work, went to it's home page, what do I download?
Is there a particular version I need to download of Avast home/
I just memory stick it to her computer from my desktop right?
Sorry for all the question I'm almost a pensioner!!

Hello there, been busy in the garden. Still couldn't access the anti-maleware link. Ended up using Ewido Security Services website. Really user friendly. The downloads page has the program and the update definations next to each other. A 14 day version, but you get to keep the version after that. I may just buy it , it located 6 trojans with ease and now daughter can use her computer again and I can garden. This site gives confidence to novices like myself.

THANKS

Turns out my website was offline due to a security breach. Still working out the details.
