QuickTime has become somewhat of a pain for me and I would like to get rid of it. However, when I attempt to uninstall it I get the following message:

"Removing QuickTime system extensions can cause applications to malfunction. Click "Uninstall" to remove the applications that came with QuickTime. Click "Uninstall Everything" to remove the systems extensions as well (not recommended)."

All I've done so far is to click "Uninstall," but it does virtually nothing -- the app is still. However, I'm a little nervous to use "Uninstall Everything" for fear of . . . well, who knows what???

Any suggestions?

Just press the uninstall everything button. Worse case scenario is what you wanted anyway: you cant play quicktime files in any of your programs. Of course to fix this you get klite mega codec pack or quicktime alternative.

Thanks -- that makes me feel a little better.

One other related question . . . it appears that FireFox automatically uses QuickTime as its default mp3 player (at least on my computer). Is QuickTime a standard FireFox plugin? If so, how can it be changed, disabled or eliminated?

Firefox just uses whatever is the default player for windows. For instance if you want it to be Windows Media Player you just set it to default for mp3 and firefox will play it with WMP.

Can you tell me where to set the default player?

If for instance you want it to be windows media player, just open it up, go tools> options and then file types and put a dot for mp3's
