Marvolath
Hi, recently i was worried about my HD speed (specially when i try to play some games). My PC is: CPU: AMD FX-8359 (8 cores, 4GHz) RAM: 2x4 GB DDR MB: Gigabyte 970A-DS3P Graphic Card: AMD Radeon HD 7700 2GB HD: WD10EZRX-00L4HB0 (1TB, SATA-III 6.0Gb/s). I analyzed with defraggler and it said ~40% frag (314GB). I left it working yesterday and this morning (it's still working) and i have 239GB left. It's took about 16hours to rearrange 75GB... isn't it too slow? :/ It's normal? Thanks
kroozer
Before Defraggling you should first run CCleaner to remove unwanted files. In Defraggler ensure all these are ticked ☑ . . . . and defrag. Follow with a Boot Time Defrag . . Alternatively I use file defrag. It's sohhhh fast. Tick ☑ Filename and click Defrag Checked. Marvolath
First, thanks for your response Before Defraggling you should first run CCleaner to remove unwanted files. I usually pass CCleaner Very useful In Defraggler ensure all these are ticked ☑ . . . . and defrag. It was marked. Follow with a Boot Time Defrag . . I'll try Alternatively I use file defrag. It's sohhhh fast. Tick ☑ Filename and click Defrag Checked. I'll start with this right now ThanksEdit: i see that my disk performance is "1.72 MB/s". It's fine? Edit 2: After 75min with file defrag, 6% done. I guess it needs ~21h to complete :/
kroozer
For me a file defrag usually takes only seconds, and rarely over one minute. What percentage free space have you?
eL_PuSHeR
You could try also unticking HUGE FILES. They are probably not worth the time defragmenting them (unless they are pretty fragmented).
Marvolath
For me a file defrag usually takes only seconds, and rarely over one minute. What percentage free space have you? 18.2 GB (20%). File defrag it's as slow as normal defrag :/ After 2 days, i still have 30% remaining. You could try also unticking HUGE FILES. They are probably not worth the time defragmenting them (unless they are pretty fragmented). Except 1 or 2 files, the biggest files i have are near 8GB, and not too many. Anyway, i think my problem is not the time i need to defrag but the speed of my defrag. I read about defrag big disk in a few minutes, but a need a lot of hours :/ Edit: i found that my HD is "WD green", so it's "normal" to have low performance. But the HD's datasheet (http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/library/SpecSheet/ENG/2879-800026.pdf) says the average speed should be 175 MB/s. With HD Speed (from steelbytes) i check it's true (at least, in the nearest areas of disk), but defraggler still says <2MB/s, and it's so slow. I deleted a lot of files, and now i have ~45% disk free and 19% frag. After 4h (just with defraggler) i have 2k fragment less (9GB)
