Moderators hazelnut Posted July 7, 2014 Moderators Share Posted July 7, 2014 Russian Microsoft leaker WZOR has resurfaced three months after going into hiding with new information on Windows 8.1 Update 2, as well as details on new security measures at Microsoft and Windows 9. http://www.networkworld.com/article/2449563/microsoft-subnet/wzors-return-brings-windows-9-rumors.html The group resurfaced on a Russian board recently and unloaded a whole lot of news on Windows. First, it confirmed that Windows 8.1 Update 2 should be released in August or September this year and will be a free upgrade for existing users.Users who install Windows 8.1 Update 2 from scratch will need new license keys. They said, assuming Bing translated it all properly, Microsoft will offer two options to users who are still on Windows 8.0: update to Windows 8.1 Update 1 and then to Windows 8.1 Update 2, or for likely a small fee, purchase a direct update to Windows 8.1 Update 2 from the Windows Store. login123
Looks like folks are reluctant to give up win 7. The Chinese statistics drive up the numbers for xp, but still . . . http://gs.statcounter.com/?chart_type=line&device_type=desktop&device_type=tablet&device_type=console&stat_type=os&statType_hidden=os&device_hidden=desktop%2Btablet%2Bconsole®ion=Worldwide®ion_hidden=ww#desktop+console-os-ww-monthly-201306-201406 The CCleaner SLIM version is always released a bit after any new version; when it is it will be HERE :-) Pssssst: ... nikki605
My wife still loves her WinXP desktop, but I am looking at a Win7 replacement system. She says I'll have to pry the old one from her cold dead fingers. Not techie and she doesn't want to learn a new GUI. Win8 is a total turn-off to her. She struggles with my Win7 laptop when she uses it. Trouble is, I'll also have to replace two printers which HP did not publish Win7 drivers for. $$$$ Win10 Pro x64 Desktop (Speccy) - Win10 Pro x64 Laptop (Speccy)

It says my officejet 6110 is supported with a basic driver included in Win7. My laserjet 1012 is a problem. There is no universal driver. I ran into this 4 years ago when I bought this Win7 laptop. I ended up installing the 1015 driver which sort of works, but is very slooow. --> http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Printer-All-in-One-Software-Drivers/Windows-7-Printer-driver-for-HP-Laserjet-1012/td-p/1446867 Win10 Pro x64 Desktop (Speccy) - Win10 Pro x64 Laptop (Speccy)
