Moderators hazelnut Posted April 17, 2016 Moderators Share Posted April 17, 2016 For attention of anyone who still has it on a Windows machine QuickTime for Windows has dangerous security vulnerabilities that let attackers take over your computer, but Apple won’t be updating it to fix them. It’s time to uninstall it. Annoyingly, Apple only announced this in a statement to Trend Micro. Apple hasn’t announced it on its own website, and doesn’t seem to be making a real effort to warn people about this outdated program. They’re even still offering it for download on their website with no warning! If you’re using a Mac, don’t worry. Apple’s QuickTime for Mac is still supported with security updates. Only the Windows version is dead and rotting. http://www.howtogeek.com/250926/quicktime-for-windows-is-dead-and-you-should-uninstall-it-to-stay-secure/ Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com
Moderators Andavari Posted April 17, 2016 Moderators Share Posted April 17, 2016 Haven't used it for at least 15 years. One would think a big company like Apple would be more responsible and remove the download. Just get VLC Media Player or something robust along those lines. Moderators Nergal Posted April 17, 2016 Moderators Share Posted April 17, 2016 My problem is it's a requirement for the main recording software I use. I guess i'll just have to lock down it's use of internet resources somehow. ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.
