Julio Borges
I'm old. Yes! I started in this matter earlys 80's or lates 79's. By that time I bought one PC XT. The hard drive was a 20 mega capacity (Yes! 20 Mega not 20 Giga). Even though it looked like I was in heaven. I came from programing in K7 tapes and latter in floppies. But since that age, I started to defrag hard drives and got very used to do it. When I found Piriform Defraggler I completely forgot about dos or windows defrag programs. Now I bought one SSD. As far as I heard and read, I should not defrag it. Ever. What you people think about that? Many Thanks, Julio Borges Rio de Janeiro - Brazil

Moderators mta Posted November 26, 2014 Moderators Share Posted November 26, 2014 agree, there is simply no benefit to be had in defragging a SSD due to how it accesses your stored data. there are no mechanical moving platters or heads so re-organising data to decrease seeks times just isn't a factor with the NAND cells in SSD's. Backup now & backup often. It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. You control the last.
