Any updates on this issue? It's a pain to launch CCleaner with 2k entries on the winapp2. VOLDEMORT has a trim function but it doesn't preserve the some of the checked item for Google Chrome.

Hi, we don't really use the name of the greyware you mentioned so I placed our usual name for it into your post. However afaik the TRIM function you speak of is trim.bat. do you have items in your ccleaner checked off from the winapp2 file

 

Could one of the entries in your winapp file lost one of its brakets "]"? because we have a lot of entries with the word "more" in them and I see that is the command you say MSDos is "barfing on"

Please copy the output of your command prompt which shows the error.

 

Have you attempted to open a command prompt as admin and open the bat from within the CMD.

I'm still using the default winapp2 directly from the site (winapp2.com) so I assume it didn't lose those brakets.

Well that would be why you get no results. You need to enable the winapp2 entries you want to keep, afaik, before running trim

Ah i think i misunderstood again. I have the items checked (the ones i want to keep on winapp2). As I've always ran trim every time it gets updated i have always kept it that way.

 

Anyway... I managed to get a screenshot of the error i'm getting before trim.bat closes. It gives those errors every time i try to run it.

Try putting quotes around the file, like "Winapp2", as it says for step 2 on the site. If that doesn't work, try putting the trim.bat in the exact same place where Winapp2 is (looks like you have it in a folder called TRIMMER now?).

@qwerty77 is there a chance you are opening the bat in a text editor, and resaving it. I re-read the batch file in my browser and noticed every "MORE" in the file was directly preceded by a new line

1. Yes. I do see "more" on system32.

 

2. I'm pretty sure i don't have a virus on my pc. I run a quick scan daily and a full scan periodically.

 

UPDATE:

 

I think i solved my own issue. It's has something to do with Environment variables. Somehow my system changed it (or i changed it) to a random path. When i changed it to the default path... I actually got the trim.bat working. Wow... sorry about this issue i made which clearly was my fault lol. Thanks for all who assisted me anyway...

Removed: DetectFile=%SystemDrive%\Config.msi so that this entry shows up when using a Trim.bat even if a Config.msi is NOT present at the time the Trim.bat is executed.  The reason is that the Config.msi folder could be "stuck" at any time when installing a program after the Trim.bat is utilized.

What if we moved them to a separate entry called Store More* and put a warning that it will sign you out of Store and such? Store cache and temp files build up quickly if you use the Store often. I am usually never signed into Store to begin with, so I don't see this happening.

Re-read what you quote that I said (emphasis added) "IF YOU DON'T USE THE APP THE WAY A NORMAL USER WOULD". The implied statement is that most everybody who uses a computer, stays signed into the store, and, unlike websites, rightfully should NOT expect to lose their store login from using an entry provided here. They expect their search history to be removed or things like that.

Anyways, what I meant by what I was saying was that, since I am not usually logged in, it isn't a problem for my system. That's why I recommended moving to a different entry and add a warning. I mean this is kind of the samething with removing passwords in FireFox/Chrome/Edge/IE/etc (yes I know you said unlike websites).
