Hav0c
Hi guys and yes girls as well, Was reading a wonderful topic about an online school registration system that asked a lot of personal information. The kicker was that they did not use ANY security on the site, only after a security consultant picked it up and informed the public not to use the website service the developers implemented TLS [Transport Layer Security]. In the post they had this website where one can test the security of a website. To the point,Do you trust SSL or TLS on a site ? As I am of nature not to trust any site period. Not even my bank online. Side note: Does anyone use the plugin HTTPS Everywhere ? Every line of code written by man can be undone by man . Moderators hazelnut Posted April 19, 2016 Moderators Share Posted April 19, 2016 Technically TLS is the successor of SSL. The differences between SSL and TLS are subtle and extremely technical, but TLS is generally a newer and more refined system. The safety of SSL's current version, 3.0, is comparable to TLS 1.0, but TLS 1.1 and 1.2 outstrip both by leaps and bounds. Even so, the two methods are so similar that some email programs even use the two terms interchangeably. http://www.tomsguide.com/us/ssl-vs-tls,news-17508.html I don't use the HTTPS everywhere plugin. Moderators mta Posted April 19, 2016 Moderators Share Posted April 19, 2016 I use HTTPS Everywhere in Firefox, it quietly sits there doing its thing, has never bothered me and I've not noticed any sites not working. Backup now & backup often. It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. You control the last. Hav0c
@Hazel, I bet you are fun at IT parties ?? . Interesting link you provided there thanks. I use HTTPS Everywhere in Firefox, it quietly sits there doing its thing, has never bothered me and I've not noticed any sites not working. I noted that it does slow down some sites that I used once or twice in the past, but the fact that it works makes it worth that couple of seconds wait.
