Sumatra PDF Reader (v3.12)

https://www.sumatrapdfreader.org/free-pdf-reader.html

A light weight PDF reader for those who "don't like" (the bloated) Foxit or Adobe Reader. These 2 programs come with lots of extra functions Sumatra doesn't have.

- Computer users who have migrated to a newer Windows version (sometimes) find out that their old scanner driver software doesn't work anymore. But there's a program that can make that old scanner work again.

YUMI - MultiBoot USB Creator

License: GPL Version 2

Runs On: Microsoft Windows

Publisher: PendriveLinux
Website: https://www.pendrivelinux.com

Description:

YUMI (Your Universal Multiboot Installer), is the successor to our MultibootISOs. It can be used to create a Multiboot Bootable USB Flash Drive containing multiple operating systems, antivirus utilities, disc cloning, diagnostic tools, and more.

My thoughts:

I used it to try out Ubuntu Linux from my USB Flash Drive, and it worked!

Payload Security Hybrid Analysis

Runs In: Web Browser

URL: https://www.hybrid-analysis.com

Not a software but instead a website that features an online malware scanner, and you don't have to install anything.

If you're used to VirusTotal then it works similar but only in the way you select a file to upload to it. It takes a long time for it to analyze a file, however the results are unique.

YUMI - MultiBoot USB Creator

My thoughts:

Thanks, Andavari.  That's a good software.

It also works to install different versions of the same distro on a single USB stick.

For example both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Zorin on one stick and Puppy 6.3.0 on another.

I had trouble getting the distros to achieve persistence, but it says here that it is possible.

I gave up trying to use Slax with it because I could only load Firefox in Slax just once, and if I closed it it would go corrupt or something even if I didn't enable Persistent in the Slax boot menu choices. After about eight re-installs of Slax using YUMI I gave up and will instead just use the CD-R I have it on. Same thing happened with Chrome in Ubuntu, and not being all that familiar with Linux I didn't know how to fix it.

There are new-ish portable versions of PDF-XChange Editor and PDF-XChange Viewer available.

I've used PDF-XChange for years on an as needed basis, but never have permanently installed it.

I tried the latest free portable editor, worked well and fast here on xp. Did not try the viewer.

The portable version has some good editing features, and of course some are available only in the paid for pro version.

Be careful, the installer from the author's site wants to install a toolbar, bur you can uncheck it.

The portables don't do that.  Just unzip them to their own folder & run them.

New version of REVO Uninstaller is available, 32 or 64 bit

The 32 bit portable works as advertised here on xp, haven't tried the 64 bit yet.

BurnAware Premium Ver 11.0 SoS is free for 1 day + 10 hours from now. Notice was posted on another forum by a member here, hayc59

https://sharewareonsale.com/s/burnaware-giveaway-sale

Author's description:

BurnAware is a full-fledged, easy-to-use burning software ... easy to use interface ...Besides standard options, BurnAware offers many advanced options such as BOOT settings, UDF partition and versions, ISO levels and restrictions, session selection, CD-Text for track and disc, byte by byte verification, direct copying and many more.
Supports Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8/8.1, and 10 (32-bit and 64-bit)

I installed it here on win xp.  Unlike many giveaways the installer hub allows you to save the full installer exe & run it later.

I did that and the program showed the registered version. The installer tries to phone home when it finishes but if it can't the program works anyway.

I have a MAJOR COMPLAINT AGAINST "BurnAWare" which DOWNLOADS AGAINST MY WILL.

My only mistake was to click on Willy2's link for WizFile, and BEFORE I could read Willy's post my browser was SWAMPED with statements that BurnAware was already downloaded and ready to INSTALl.   It does NOT tell me to WHERE it has buried this unwanted junk.

My apologies to Willy2 for hijacking his post, BUT when I tried to complain on the BurnAware topic I just suffered more unsolicited "Downloads"

Regards

Alan

@Alan_B

I just clicked on Willy2's link to test (the anti-body software link) and had no problem.

Are you saying clicking on the link downloaded BurnAware or that you downloaded it from that website and it auto downloaded BurnAware?

Just tested and neither of the links in Willy2's post from (antibody-software.com or ghacks.net) downloaded anything automatically on my system, even tried the links above in Login123's post and nothing.

When I received the Piriform notification of Willy's post I clicked and was brought into this sequence of topics.

At that stage I think I was correctly taken to Willy.s topic BUT the preceding post from login appeared to take priority,

and I saw the message that is present immediately above Willy's post, i.e.

BURNAWAY Premium HAS BEEN downloaded, etc etc.

I have not found any evidence that "Burnaware Premium has been downloaded",

but it cost me time and effort to investigate because I had been explicitly told of a BurnAWay download which I had NOT initiated.

Regards

Alan

Alan I think it's because of the new version of IPB forum software which like most other aspects of it being very annoying loads exceptionally odd if following a link to a particular post, it doesn't always instantly load the post and seems to auto-scroll between other posts which I find it very annoying because I often think it isn't loading correctly then as soon as touching the scroll bar it screws everything up.

Hi, Alan_B.  Sorry for the scare.

As far as I could tell, nothing in that post would  run without asking.  Checked that several times before posting.

That link  now goes to a page saying that the offer expired.

That picture is what loaded so slowly, I guess. It is there to show how to save the installer and run it later.

I don't know how to attach it as a thumbnail so it will load faster. How does one do that with the new forum software?
