Completely erase the hard drive

I have an old laptop computer and wish to dispose it but wish to permanently erase the information on its hard drive before dispose. I wish to remove the hard drive and connect it as a slave drive  to a new computer then completely wipe the information on it (on the old laptop computer’s  hard drive). Does CCleaner work for this purpose in the same way CCleaner works for erasing a thumb drive connected to a computer?

I am requesting this information  just to educate myself.

Yes ccleaner should allow that. If not, once the drive is slaved, format it; after which you should be able to wipe with no issue.

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.
