TakedaYabu
After defragging my HDD, should I now optimize my SDD? I have read a bit about Trimming and Zero Filling, so I'm guessing that the optimize option does that to an SSD? Also, what optimize does to HDD and when or why should I use it on them? Thanks in advance =)
Moderators mta Posted March 30, 2016 Moderators Share Posted March 30, 2016 Hi @TakedaYabu, what is your OS? assuming it's Windows 10, and you haven't changed the setting, Win10 will Optimise your SSD once a week (or is it monthly, I can't remember) by default. Backup now & backup often. It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. You control the last. Thanks for the reply. I am using windows 7 ultimate and this is the current condition of the SSD after finishing defragging my HDD: Should I optimize my SSD using defragler? Moderators mta Posted March 31, 2016 Moderators Share Posted March 31, 2016 no need. the data is not kept/accessed the same on SSD's as it is on mechanical drives. and the I/O rates for SSD cells are ridiculously fast. there simply is so little performance to be gained compared to the downside of the enormous increased read/write cycles the process would have. the TRIM command is all any SSD needs. what brand is the SSD? Intel and Samsung come with their own software and checking firmware updates, doing TRIMs and optimising Services for best performance. TakedaYabu
Thanks for the reply again, so, basicly I don't need to anything to my SSD with Defraggler? About the brand, I have no clue but my HDD is from Samsung. Here's what defraggler tells about my SSD:
