Is Ccleaner eating my Desktop shortcut icons

The graphic icons are disappearing from my Desktop shortcuts? This is happening on my desktop computer and on my laptop computer with Windows 7 on both computers. This began yesterday after I installed a new update for Ccleaner on both computers. The shortcuts show an empty white box, and this happens on shortcuts to programs and to URLs.

I have ccleaner on all my PC's (including Win 7) and have no problem with my icons.

Are you cleaning the registry?

Have you selected anymore  tick boxes than are the default in the ccleaner clean?

Have you tried refreshing/rebuilding your icon cache?

sounds like your LNK associations may be broken.

verify by actually going to what a desktop icon used to do for you and double clicking the program to start it.

if so, easy to fix, but first (if the above suggestions don't fix it for you) try going back to a previous restore point.

and if you did use the reg cleaner portion of CC, use the backup it suggested you create (if you did).

elaborate on what desktop icons still work; shortcuts?, programs?, or in other words what sort of icons are they; .EXE, .LNK etc.

Backup now & backup often.
It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.
Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. You control the last.
