klepp0906
Im running windows 8.1 with two SSDs in RAID0. The only options I have are Defrag and Quick Defrag - neither are an option with SSDs obviously. I would prefer to continue using defraggler but in its current state it has no use for me. Anyone aware why the option isnt available? Is their a registry key I can edit to flip the switch persay? As it sits currently I have to use the windows tool to optimize which is less than ideal. Thank you!
Moderators mta Posted October 27, 2014 Moderators Share Posted October 27, 2014 If all you have is SSD's then they simply do not need defragging.Without even going down the "you'll wear them out faster" path, the NAND cells are not access sequentially and the wear-levelling management routines will store your files all over the drive.Add to that the almost instant seek times and defragging these units just becomes a moot point. Backup now & backup often. It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. You control the last. klepp0906
The only options I have are Defrag and Quick Defrag - neither are an option with SSDs obviously. they need optimizing. its seperate from defrag. Its essentially TRIM. Optimize shows up on my system that has 2 SSDS that arent in a raid, however the system that has 2 which are in a raid it doesnt show up. Hoping a developer can chime in and confirm this as a bug and/or if its being worked on or if its something i can resolve myself.
Moderators Nergal Posted November 2, 2014 Moderators Share Posted November 2, 2014 The developers rarely chime in, though they do read all threads. Moved to the bugs forum on semi-request by poster ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.
