CCleaner does not start up

Recommended Posts

Hi i am using windows 7 64-bit sp1 operating system and i cannot run CCleaner for some reason. i download and installed it and then when i click on the icon the busy cursor flashes for like one tenth of a second and then nothing happens. i have checked the processes list in task manager but no there's nothing running there as ccleaner.exe either. I have read a few other forums and someone suggested to uncheck check updates automatically while installing i did that too but still no luck same thing again. Please help me because my laptop is dying and i cant do a fresh windows install again i need to clean up using ccleaser asap <3

never mind guys i just solved it by changing the name of ccleaner64.exe to something random and it worked i guess some registry error were preventing ccleaner from starting up. Hope it helps anyone with the problem

Thanks man, had the same problem and this solved it for me. just renamed the ccleaner64.exe and it worked fine!

Thanks for this topic and solution!

I'm having the exact same issue on Windows 10 since the early builds (clean installs) and on build 10130 as well. Changing the name of Ccleaner64.exe to something else fixed it for both the portable version and the normal install one. I was already looking into .net framework 3.5 if that was causing it, but it's just something like this -.-

10 isn't officially supported until after 10 is released. As far as can't install need to change name issues this is 99% of the time an issue with either your anti-malware aystem (usually caused by flagging Google's bundled install as a PUP) or compatibility settings (i.e. it was set to run the setup as window xp sp2 which isn't compatible with ccleaner)

Edit: < 1% of the time the user has malware that has stopped certain installations and the user should seek immediate aid via rule 10 of the forum rules thread

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.
